Primary Interest:
Relic Hunting
I received permission to detect a co worker's yard. The house was built in the mid 1940's, so I felt the chance of finding some silver was pretty good. I took the AT-Pro out and gave it a swing. With 2 hours or so detecting in a light rain, I didn't have any silver to show for my time but I did manage to find 19 Wheats, one memorial, 3 quarters (one a 65), 3 dimes (one a 66) and 2 nickels; nothing newer than 1979. I also recovered several other items like a cheap aluminum heart pendant with a "Hong Kong" stamp on the back and a copper tag stamped "BLACKMORE", and trash; lots of pulltabs, bottle caps and can slaw. The house is located near a couple of college campuses, so I think drunken student activity accounts for most of the trash. I know there has to be some silver in that yard somewhere, I just have to clean out the trash and find it. Most of the coins I dug have been around 6" deep, one at 8". I recovered 5 of the Wheat pennies in a single hole (pocket spill) in between the concrete pads of the driveway. I also have a couple of targets in the front yard that I have hesitated to dig at 10" because of the extreme drought we're in. I really hate to leave a dead patch in this guy's front yard by the street... Perhaps after a good soaking rain, I'll go back and dig those deep targets and then I'll bump up the sensitivity as much as possible and hunt it real slow and see if the AT-Pro can sniff out some deep silver...

BTW, I did tumble the coins, yes I know I shouldn't have, but there are no key dates and they were all crusty beyond belief. The one in the upper corner that is brighter than the rest also got an electrolysis bath for about 5 minutes. Just trying to see what works as far as cleaning...

Thanks for looking...

Thanks, it was... Can you tell a couple of them got caught in the reeper? A couple along the bottom row had mower nicks and dings.
