I am going next week hunting. I have a choice as to where to go but I wont be able to go to both spots. Which spot should I go too?
First spot is a future hunting spot I just got permission to hunt. I have never been there and if I dont go I might not know where it is next time. But I dont know if there is any artifacts there.
Second is the field where I just found a nice Dalton base and some other good finds. I wont be able to go to this spot in another month till after it is planted and harvested.
So what do you think?

I wouldn't leave a spot you are just starting to figure out for one you know nothing about. Mark the other one on a map... before that look at it from a satilite image and see if it looks promising or not.

Rock - I have a very strong opinion on this one, it's probably the most important lesson I've ever learned in the field of rock hunting. In every single case, finding places to hunt is far more important than finding rocks. Again, this is just my opinion but I think it's a BIG mistake to pass over the potential benefit of finding another productive spot that could add 100's of artifacts to you collection over the years, maybe new types, new materials, new learnings, (or maybe nothing...) for the lure of hunting a known site. Big mistake to pass up the new potential site.

just my opinion, but in this case it's a strong opinion. Having moved 5 times in the last 14 years, it's clear to me that spots are way more valuable that any individual artifact.

Both replys sound good. I have decided to go to the new spot if for nothing else just to see what it looks like. I have to go with the owner to see where it is at. Hopefully after that I can go by myself anytime I wish. It is 20 miles away but I have found some artifacts out that way in the general area. It is a well wooded place out there and hasnt been developed at all. I figure it wouldnt hurt just to get a view of it and the owner said there is a creek that runs through it. Never know there might even be gold in them there hills. Thanks for the replys both of you. rock
