What's your favorite coffee?

I'm against the $5 starbucks coffee, and have never bought one expect for going in that place for a meeting with a client and asking for a "plain coffee" ($1.50). But, at home, do you have your own grinder? What bean do you buy at the store? Special creamers? etc? This might sound strange, but the best coffee I've ever had was in a jail where the inmates made it. They had a LOT of time on their hands to perfect the perfect cup of coffee. And perfection they did make. The next best was a simple fresh ground with filtered water.
I'm thinking about buying a grinder and fresh beans (I know that's an oxy-moron).

Re: What's your favorite coffee?

The best coffee I have ever had was made with sulfur water "water containing high amounts of hydrogen sulfide gas". It's smells really bad :( but is really good coffee................... ;D

Re: What's your favorite coffee?

I'm easy. Folgers or Maxwell House but it's gotta be the strong, dark stuff.

Re: What's your favorite coffee?

My first cup of coffee in the morning is way to important to trust to any "coffee shop". If the first cup is bad the whole day is going downhill. I have a coffee maker that grinds the beans and then brews the coffee. It's a Capresso coffee maker and you can get them at Williams & Sonoma. I only use spring water for brewing and my favorite coffee is Green Mountain Roasters "Vermont Breakfast Blend". The real trick is to get up earlier than the rest of the family so I can enjoy my coffee in peace and quiet.

P.S. I you keep the receipt from Williams & Sonoma you can exchange the coffee maker if it ever breaks. The grinder part does wear out over time.

Re: What's your favorite coffee?

Too bad none of you ever had really "fresh" coffee. I've been making my own for some time now, a bit time consuming, but then again it's a hobby and worth the reward at the end. I buy bags of green coffee and work with about 8 oz at a clip.

You roast it first, that is the only real work, but once it's done you grind, brew and drink away. Keep in mind that even store bought "roasted beans" have already started to lose flavor in the first week of their roasting. All beans will start to lose some flavor within a week of roasting. There real fun comes in making your own unique blend.

You would also be surprised how cheap it is too. :icon_thumleft:

There is no other coffee for me

This man roast small batches. You tell him what you like in a coffee and he'll pull out some beans, grind up enough to make a cup or two and let you try it. Then if ONLY if you like it, you buy it.

He is located in Millsboro, Deleware

You are just one step away from doing it yourself.. :laughing9:

Re: What's your favorite coffee?

Here's my setup. I use spring water from my spring. I prefer French Roast coffee. The brand I use is the BJ's store brand. The brand is not important because all of the manufactures buy at auction, they don't grow their own! It's the roasting method that counts. I grind my own coffee in my Vita-Mix 3600. I take it with a little sugar and a flavored creamer. Right now I am working on CremeBrulee flavored Coffee Mate But I change it with each purchase for variety,Rember, the spice of life!

Re: What's your favorite coffee?

Thick & Black :coffee2: Maxwell House

Re: What's your favorite coffee?

My favorite coffee is anywhere they have an ash tray on the table.I drink Cains(all natural) since Folgers,Maxwell House,Hill's Bros have processed most of the flavor from their coffee.

Re: What's your favorite coffee?

No coffee for me, for some reason it makes me shake like a hooker in church.

I drink tea, I usually use Lipton cold brew with no sugar. I like a good cup of warm tea also, but not in the summer time.

Re: What's your favorite coffee?

Cafeine doesn't bother me.I drink coffee right up to bedtime and sleep like a baby.

Re: What's your favorite coffee?

Costa Rican green coffee beans

Roasted on the alcohol camp stove outside in a old saucepan

I always let them "age" for a day after roasting so yesterdays roast is todays coffee

Yep Spart, I don't think it's the caffeine. When I was younger I drank coffee, as I got older it seems I may have developed an allergic reaction to it.

Don't get me wrong I like the stuff but it just gets me so razzled that I can't enjoy it anymore. The last time I drank a few small Styrofoam cups at a lodge meeting, I turned white and was shaking so bad that I honestly felt like I was going to pass out. My little Brother had to hold me by the arm to hold me up. Now when ever I walk into the lodge all the guys joke and say, hey brother the coffee's on if you want a cup. :tongue3:

Re: What's your favorite coffee?

For me the best coffee is free coffee. Other than that, I ain't gonna stand in line for coffee. I don't want to be able to see the bottom of the cup through the coffee. Never ever wash my coffee cup or the coffee pot. And I don't understand people who like a little coffee with their cream and sugar.

Re: What's your favorite coffee?

Dunkin' Donuts has the best cup of coffee in town here but the crap they sell at the grocery store is awful. I can't believe Duncan Donuts lets them put their name on it.

The best coffee that we have been enjoying for a couple of years is Costa Rican coffee. When husband was visiting Costa Rica he toured the coffee bean plantation. He enjoyed raking the beans...everything is done by hand. http://www.dokaestate.comOther than that, it's "Community New Orleans Blend"

If ever in Delhi, LA visit "The Common Ground" a gourmet coffee shop owned by a relative...Warsawdaddy liked Barbara, but not her coffee. ;D
