I never see those ads...that's not fair.

Those ads are based on your search and website history. I guess we all know where you spend the rest of your online time!

First that isn't porn.......

Non members see ads all the time, non charter members see ads only on smart phones and Ipads.

Everyone sees different ads, even at top of our forum. You see ads related in one way or another to what you have searched for but it doesn't mean you searched porn, or even wives, but "keyword" that are tags for those ads.... "Key words" produce the ads displayed...

At least for Google AdSense, you are served the ads that Google has profiled you for. Google has profiled everyone that is on the web, and some profiles could be quite telling. The point is, based on the contextually accurate placement on websites that host Google ads, your long term profile will also bias the ads served to you, as advertisers want people to click on them, and Google tries at all costs to make the ads appear very clickable to you.

Clearing your cache wont do much except for the immediate. As soon as the google cookie sends enough data back to their mainservers, you will be attached once again to your regular "profile".

That said, quit surfing porn !! ;)

Wait, wait.......
this should lead to a new thread, "What Ads Do You See At The Top Of Tnet Page"! :laughing7:

The only add I'm getting is dusty old Kelly Co stuff, is that porn??? Is there any way to erase some of those cookies. I hate some of the stuff google is doing, and it would be nice to erase all the cookies every time the machine is shut down, and most of that stuff would go away. Just don't know how to get rid of the cookies, or would that be wasted effort?

Amazon does it also. Buy a book at Amazon and you get all sorts of ads for other books even remotely related to the book you purchased. Can their cookie be erased or deleted?

Yes of course they can. But that doesnt fix anything.

The issue has been building the last 10 years or so. The search engines, social sites, shopping sites, they all compile traffic and referral data about you as an individual.

And that is in part the source of your ad content, whether on Google powered sites, facebook, yahoo, or any of their affiliated ad networks.

You could buy a brand new pc tomorrow, use it under fake registrations etc, connect only using someone or somewhere elses network,.... and these networks will have your identity and traffic profile re-attached to you within a day.

Yes, they are THAT good. It's why they are billion dollar companies.

And then, comes the porn ads again. :occasion14:

To let you off the hook a tiny bit casca, If you read forum threads about finding or returning "wedding rings", that could easily be enough to trigger an add for mail-order brides. I always find it funny to see what targeted ads show up after reading a long forum thread.

What am i doing wrong i only see ads for metal detectors.
