What's this? Ammo? - no, but now with pat. number.

This seems to be brass, and it's light for it's size, like it's hollow. The rim around the bottom made me think it might be ammo, maybe even some kind of blank; I haven't tried cleaning off the bottom yet just in case. It says "LIBBEY", then maybe A-1 or something similar, gives a patent number and also an issue number. Thanks.

Patent number is 1934492 as far as I can tell, possibly 1934493, and maybe one more digit, a 1, at the end. Very hard to tell.

"LIBBEY 4-A" is large inscription, and last is "RE[?]-ISSUE NO. 190...?"

It's filled inside with clear glass, broken off inside the rim around the bottom, and there are two square holes opposite on the sides. The top is definitely threaded. I'm thinking fuse now?

Re: What's this? Ammo?

Give us the exact patent number and we will pull it up. It looks like PAT. NO. 19344_?__

Is it open on the bottom/top? (other side)

Cleaning gently with water should not hurt anything.

Doesn't look like any ammo or blanks I know of. Monty

Welcome to TreasureNet BennyJ :hello:
Interesting little container. I just did some searching on the name Libbey, but no clues - so far.
As BigCy requested, give us all the information you can read on the lid. BigCy's a wizard on Patent searches.

Cheers, Mike

Thanks, I tried the patent search and that led me to the answer - it's a part of an old reflector. If it weren't broken, there would be a hemisphere of glass coming out from the bottom. I think it's meant to screw into the body of a reflector holding a lot more like it.

Can you share the link or patent number with the rest of us lol? Thanks. ;D

It sounds like a reflector from an old sign. :dontknow: Something like this maybe? :dontknow:
