But wait, EV's are good for the the environment, mining lithium only causes water, soil, air contamination, deforestation, mining CO2 emissions, you know.
Listen, the rare earth minerals also do not come directly from our enemy. What possibly could go wrong with switching our entire transportation system over to EV’s?? I don’t see a downside.

You are referring to alkai, a component of lithium. I believe we are putting the cart ahead of the horse. I heard an engineer once say that we should have kept improving steam cars, maybe so. I like gas vehicles although I do have friends with EVs.
I do wonder what the future will hold for transportation, it is looking complicated.
