I was removing this steel pipe stuck in the ground in my backyard,i had to dig down 5 feet to get it out,i was digging with my bare hands when something sharp sliced the top of my index finger wide open.this metal object is what did it.it had a light layer of rust on it which cleaned up with my wire wheel.its not stainless but maybe a better grade of steel.any ideas what it is? it looks like someone beat it out from a fire,it wasnt made with a machine.

Any chance it could have been someone tooling around with some scrap metal trying to make an arrow or something, and then they fired it at the ground to test it, and never got it back because it went so deep? Just a thought. I have done things like that plenty of times and then just pitched 'em. And now that I have taken up this hobby, I think about people possibly finding them and going crazy wondering about the origin or purpose. Either way it's pretty sweet! Hope your hand feels better!

Morning,
A) About the point, it looks very similar to what the Eskimos -former designation - used in their spears for dangerous game. The spear shaft was hollowed out at the tip so that a point, such as shown, could be inserted. This type of spear was never thrown.

When fighting a Bear for example, the hunter would drive the point deeply into the animal and upon withdrawing the spear the point would remain inside leaving a nice open wound channel for increased bleeding. He would then place another point in the spear shaft and go through the same motion again. He generally carried several points in a pouch. The points were multi edged as shown and usually had apposed pairs for increased cutting and hemorrhaging effect. Very effective.

B) Yes gal, the super glue is very effective and used by surgeons for many "smaller wounds" instead of suturing since it is far quicker and could give finer scar. I did not notice any particular pain with it, but then I might have been a bit preoccupied at the time hehhe.

RealdeTayopa,

that could be what this spear or weapon is,i have lived in florida for over 30 years an have never seen any eskimos here yet.maybe whoever owned the weapon before buried it to keep it hidden.the prior owner of this house im in now, built it 15 years ago.it was a wooded lot before that. i have been in this house for 3 years.its hard to tell how a item ends up where you find it.

HIO FISH EYE: No Eslimos there?? I find That hard to believe, hrhrhr.

Seriously this combination would be equal to carrying a handful of conventional spears and may have been independentally develloped in Florida.

Remember, they did have mean critters there before, still are a few, but there is a new one that this spear would not be effecive against, the new geneation of Florida GOLD DIGGERS, hehehehe appol gals .
