What's the one find that has eluded you?

Realistically speaking that is. We are not talking about twenty dollar gold coins & the like. Something a bit more realistic.

For me it WAS a silver religious medallion.... then last year I found one.

Now it is a gold class ring... I have yet to find one & I expect it to be a common enough & realistic find.

What I enjoy the most about metal detecting is finding the "firsts" .....hitting that next metal detecting milestone.... like a silver thimble, civil war miniball,that first gold ring etc etc. Things you have seen (posted online) that others have found & wanted to find yourself.
That is what I truely love about metal detecting.... those firsts.

So what is the one realistic item you have wanted to find that has been eluding you?

oops! Not a gold coin huh? I've got 7 walk lib. halfs and 6 franklin halfs, so i guess a barber or seated half. HH

I'd have to say 1. any silver coin. 2. My first ring. I've been hunting for about 2 months, but usually can only get out for an hour or so on saturday or sunday. I have just started researching a few ghost town/ older areas to check out. Maybe with a little luck I can find a silver coin tomorrow. I'm using a prizm 2 detector and I am still learning its in and outs a bit.

There is always the gold coin! After 20+ of MD I have been lucky to have found nearly some of everything, (except that gold coin) I am always happy when I find a coin that I can place directly into my coin collection. Does not happen often, but once in a while.

I would have to say any silver, and nickel before 1960 IH penny would be nice and anything thats not a poptop.
