Rod looks to be hollow to attach to something maybe.

In all seriousness, I did have a pretty good idea that it could be "anything" and that's why I posted it on here to see that by chance someone just might recognize it. I would hate to say this is a solved mystery piece that could be "anything". So I will consider this thread still open.
