So I got an email from both I contacted; one of them wanted to sell me some books.
Here's a quote from what the other bloke said:

At a minimum, his response adds more credence to the trunk possible being manufactured in 1938.

True Don, but I know what it is now (a trunk) and what it could be worth. ($100)
