What's in your Purse?

It finally rained. I got out this afternoon and went to a local park that I have hunted 3 times before. I was even searching in the same area that I always search in and I got a signal for a penny at about 3" down. It sounded a little sporadic but I dug it anyway. Afterdigging down about 2 1/2" I reached my hand in the hole to remove the loose dirt and much to my surprise I pulled out a fist full of coins and they just kept coming. It appears someone had lost their purse. The purse for the most part was rotted away and anthing else that was in it was gone also but I came out with 8 quarters, 30 dimes, 30 nickles and 7 pennies. Along with my other finds today (about an hour and a half) I have 98 coins just from today. What a great day to be detecting.

The coins are still soaking, I haven't even looked at any of them yet. I don't expect them to be very old.

That's my wife's old purse!? She lets change collect in the bottoms of her purses until they weigh 40 lb.!? She cleans house about twice a year and gives them to me to check and see if any are worth keeping.? Found a few!? ?JIM

I almost fell off my chair as I was reading your post!!!!

Today I decided that it was time to clean out all the change from the bottom of my purse! It was so heavy that
I just couldn't stand it anymore! Spent the better part of an hour looking through it all and to my suprise....

I got a 1947s wheat penny!!!!

I know you were thrilled to find all those coins!!!!

still checking but I was correct, they are not very old. The oldest so far is 1966 quarter and a 1964 Nickel. I am still working on the dimes and pennies.

ROFL. Nana I wish my wife was that thrifty.Every time she gets change it goes into the center console so she can have change for the parking meters at the mall and Las Olas Blvd to shop. Nice diggin DathVick. HH
