whats does everybody here do for work?

I have been a self employed building contractor for 40 years. I had more work than I could handle up to about 2 years ago. For the last 4 months I have been sitting at my desk or puttering in my shop 7 days a week. The phone hasn't been ringing at all. I check the phone everyday to see if it is working. Yep it is still working. Not one single job or phone call since Nov. 2009.
I will just keep reading Treasure Net and newspapers while I'm sitting at my desk. It is enjoyable but doesn't pay very good at all.

Simonds, Have you considered retirement and going MDing full time? How about travel? Sailing or a hundred other ideas and enjoy instead of being bored? When the economy starts back up you could go back to it if you are so inclined. Hopefully this will turn around but I wouldn't sit and watch the clock and phone. Just a thought.

Right now should be a good time for small jobs (additions, small remodels, etc.) People are just getting their tax refunds back. try advertising in local church bulletins and the like (i.e. - inexpensive, and reaching a mature audience) with a very targeted objective ("Specializing in kitchen / bath remodelling", etc.) Might hook a few smaller jobs that way.................

Best of luck

White Feather & Diggemall,
Thanks for the replies. At 7:30 Am. This morning I got a phone call to build a new house, that sure made my day. I met with the customers and got everything ready to go.
Good for the summer.
