Well, I'm Line-of-Duty, Service-Connected, Disabled-Retired from the Army since 1985 (went in 1979 as an MP, became involved in Terrorist Activity Countermeasures, got shot up but no Purple Heart when you are somewhere you aren't 'supposed' to be.... they DID give me a 70% disability rating tho ;) ). After surgeries, rehab and therapy I got back into policework (stupid!?!), then did corporate security, then worked as a Disabled Veteran's Rep for the MO Division of Employment Security for a few years while I finished my Bachelor's Degree, then, just to make sure I substantiated the stupidity accusations, I went BACK into policework (University of MO - Rolla Police Dept........ now called the MO University of Science & Technology PD since Jan 1). I'm currently the Sergeant in charge of Investigations, Evidence, Firearms, Federal Legislative Compliance, Internet Webpages, etc, etc, etc.....
I'm impatiently waiting for 7 years to pass so I can finally, actually RETIRE (at age 55)!!!
HOWEVER.................... The Dept of Veteran's Affairs is re-evaluating my medical conditions and increased my rating to 80% last year. I still have half a dozen conditions pending determination so I might end up with full and total disability.
But I'll NEVER be too stove up to swing a detector!!!!!! I actually use mine to find evidence the perps try to ditch and have located lost items for citizens and students.
And like I've said before, I'm heading to Florida ASAP!!!!! So move over "FLBill", "erikk" and "bridgeendfarm". ;D
Well, like I threatened, I moved to FL late in June after things worked out, allowing me to take early retirement from the university and get married to my college sweetheart whom I hadn't seen in 20 years before she contacted me in 2007.
Now, in addition to TH'ing, I ride my ATVs and 4-wheel and fish and hike and bike and browse second-hand stores. At home I do small repairs, fix supper, mow the lawn and hang out on my laptop for extended periods of time........
I hate to admit it but I've been thinking of doing the two-week course and getting certified to do police work in FL. Just part-time mind you. I can't believe I want to get back into such a dangerous and unappreciated job tho! But as most all the other longtime cops can attest, you just never really get it out of your system!

I work in Sales for a Marriott hotel. I'm ready for a new career in archaeology, or should I say Metal Detecting. I would also like to be a professional vacationer. "Fingers Crossed"

I am in the USAF, i do plumbing work on the side, and also work at Pizza Hut to pull in extra cash.

I'm a PR guy for the IT department at a community college. But when I grow up I want to be an auctioneer. I got my license last Christmas after going to Carolina Auctioneer Academy at Stanly Community College and passing it and then going up to Fuquay Varina, N.C. to take the state test and passing it. And yeah, I can do the fast talking, that's the easy part, trust me. I do mostly benefit auctions, but I did a NASCAR auction this last spring that was a ball! I got to meet Kasey Kahne, Junior Johnson and Bobby Allison (my favorites and legends of NASCAR), Terry Labonte, and a bunch of other drivers, the president of Nascar and Humpy Wheeler! I had my photo taken with all these people too. Oh, and they gave me two bikini models for ring people, fed me, plus they paid me $300! (my wife always donates my auction proceeds to the church which I don't mind, I have fun doing it anyway). The day before that one I did a benefit auction for The Foundation at Central Piedmont Community College and got to meet Larry Hagman (J.R. Ewing off Dallas and Major Nelson on Jeannie, remember?)

Im a brain surgeon that works for a group who does experimental surgery on people who was born with damage to there frontal lobe. Here is a success story. A few years ago I was assigned a patient who was really in bad shape. A frontal lobotomy and some intense shock therapy treatments and he has done quite well. We all know him as Buckleboy.
