Greetings! I'd like to invest under $400 for something to play with looking for buried/lost silver and gold coins. I figured this was the best forum to ask advice in.
My own property, sandy soil that wind regularly unburies things from (also covers things up), rarely rains so no 'wet' detecting. Downside is lots of iron bits, square nails, it's pioneer era homestead ranchland so tons of old barbwire, buckles, fasteners, oddities. I've found quite a few early stopper type bottles though all broken except for one, also located the original well. Found a nice over 100 yo snaffle bit a few months back from wind erosion. This was a stage coach stop and inn in the 1800's amongst other things, along the Oregon Trail. I find arrowheads frequently and in the walls of my living room (pre 1900 structure) someone had hidden a civil war era rifle. Me thinks there's things buried here...just need to find a decent setup that won't have me digging for rusted shoeing nails over and over. I don't have much free time for hobbies or pockets to invest in top notch gear, any and all suggestions are appreciated.
