What year did they porcelin paint liciense plates? I dug this at the same farm I hunted today at Antietem.Right to the right of the 1st #3 it took a bullet that did not penetrate. It is VERY thick steel. They dont make em like they used to.
Very cool find, WTG!!!
One of my first finds ever was this 1913 Indiana plate:
Don't let the rust fool ya,, it might still be worth some bucks...
I was told by some collectors that the one I have was the first year Indiana ever issued plates, and also the only year that Indiana made them using porcelain... They say it's worth about $100 bucks...
I tried to find the collectors site I got my information from, but can't find it... I'll look through all my links and see if I can...
Here is one similar to what I have selling on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6585519852&category=20274
The bid was up to $75 dollars,,, not bad for an old rusty plate...
Good luck, & Happy hunting~

Sometimes if you look in a farmers field, you'll find old rusty cars being used to combat erosion. Who knows, you might find that the license plate is worth more than the car.
Quote from the artical, " Indiana issued license plates in pairs until May 22, 1943 "...
I wonder if they did that for the 1913's also? I think I need to check the spot out again, maybe I can find me the matching plate for this one....
