What was your strangest find in a box of coins? Any denomination.

as a kid I found a barber dime in a roll of pennies.... 1903 I think. it wasn't dirty, as are some clad dimes you find sometimes. also found a few of those Lincoln smoking a pipe types...familiar w/ those? I don't know the back story on them, I just know I cant part w/ them.

I once found a plastic "free beer" token in a box of halves, a coin from Zimbabwe from a box of dimes, and a goofy triceratops obverse token from a box of nickles. As far as value goes: I always find the joy of CRH in every box :laughing7:

Were you able to redeem that token? Lol

just keep stacking, just keep stacking, stacking stacking stacking

I had a great box of dimes yesterday (7 rosies). The bonus was the 8GB Micro SD card I found in a roll. There was a 60D in that roll as well.

most valuable was a $500 box of halves that contained 180 40% and 2 90% kennedy's, as I recall. Silver was about $38 then. Sold 4 rolls on ebay, plus with other 40%er's from other boxes and misc, that left me one 40% roll which I still have. Unfortunately, I also kept one roll plus a few singles of 90% kennedy's. I only searched about a dozen boxes, the logistics was a problem.

When I first started metal detecting, I searched a little pocket park we have in our trailer park, which was established back in the 70's. One of my first finds was a 1900 Queen Victoria bronze penny, which gave me quite a start! More valuable was a very nice quality Smokey the Bear ring I found at the base of a tree in that park, which I sold on ebay. It's funny how indelible those memories are. Those 2 very early finds probably got me hooked metal detecting.

I'm getting quite a collection of disc watch batteries. Most valuable - probably the 31s cent I found in one of my first boxes.

A 4 leaf clover, dried and shrunk in plastic, found it in a roll of halves just a little bit ago, hope it brings all of us good luck!
HH and GL.

That's great. Any new found luck these days?

Haha, thanks. I was joking about the silver part being unusual, but it is indeed rare. My previous post on here is my most unusual find. I did find a woman pant button as an ender in one of my cent rolls though!
I've had good luck as of lately. Hope some goes your way!
