What was the first target you ever dug up?

A small gold chain. It was in the ground next to a pull tab.

My first find was a 58 cal Minie found in Hagerstown, Md. in the early 70s. I had just got out of the Navy and went home for a visit. My brothers took me detecting in a corn field. I used a White's 4900 that belonged to my older brother. He gave it to me when I left for my home in Georgia and I used it for a long time.

A brass tietack with two pair of feet, one pointing up, the other down. Still have it and most of the rest.

First thing I dug was a pull tab. Little did I know then how many more were to come I'm still amazed at how many are out there. In 52 years on the planet and enough beer to float a battleship I have probably only pulled off 5 or 6 pull tabs. And the ones I did pull I dropped in the can which went in the trash. I have actually thought about writing to my congressman and senators asking for a bill to outlaw discarding pull tabs. I hate them. Pull tabs that is.
