What Was She Looking For?

Went on my dump run today and had a somewhat strange experience with a teller. When I was cashing in my dump slip, I asked her for any halves. She had $6 worth and as she counted them on the counter I could see that one was silver! Suddenly she grabbed them all back up and started to closely examine them paying particular attention to the reverse side of the coins. Well, there goes the silver, I thought. But no, she checked again and then sold them to me. One was a '68D. What she was looking on the back for escapes me but I guess she couldn't find it.

lol happens all the time , my guess is most of the time they dont know what a 40%er is. In fact it happened to me 2 weeks ago. After spotting some walkers that werent given to me i nicely questioned the teller and she told me she saves certain ones for another teller , she let a 40%er go tho.

I'll bet Maine Jim is dead on. Some folks still think those will be worth something one day. This reminds me, I have 300 Bi-Cen Ikes I will part with for the low low price of $350.

My guess is that she heard the sound difference and wanted to make sure it said half dollar on the back. That is what most of the cashiers do when I use halves to pay for stuff.

Congrats on the 40%

She was making sure they were half dollars. I see this all the time.

I had a teller tell me she was looking for 72's no Friday. If i had guessed that was coming I would have given her the chrome plated i found the day before.
