I found this bullet at a battle site, the battle happened in 1846. I was wondering if it possible that it is during that time period. Is it a minie ball? I also found some metal possibly led drippings and it looks like it is made out of the same thing as the bullet. Also the bullet does not have a manufacturer mark is it possible that the soldiers made it instead of a factory?

We need as accurate of measurements as you can give us to help ID your bullet. But, to answer your question it is highly unlikely that this bullet was used in a battle that took place in 1846. Claude-Etienne Minie did not produce his bullet until 1849 and that was in France. The U S version was introduced in the early 1850s but not adopted by the government until 1855. During the civil war it came to be called the "Minnie".

Most of the bullets of that era will not be marked (factory or soldier). You need to show the base (bottom) of your bullet and if possible some measurements. At least stand it up on a ruler for a size reference. Your other lead pieces are likely melted "camp lead".

Those are something else. Not bullets.

The bits of melted lead could be from bullets too.

If there has ever been a large fire that burned through the area any old lead bullets embedded in trees will melt and leave behind pieces like you found in the ashes.

Never really thought of that.

As said a bottom picture & some basic measurements 'should' answer your Question.
