I'd like to know how some of you have passed the time when you were unable to detect for health reasons family reasons or any other various life reasons I was unfortunate enough to suffer a massive stroke in April which caused me to be unable to detect I'm in physical therapy and working on recovering but it's a slow process and it's almost painful how much I miss detecting I thought maybe I could watch detecting videos on YouTube but that actually makes it even worse any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated thanks

Joe, maybe an online business selling some old finds? I wish you a speedy recovery.

Thanks I've never sold any of my finds and would have a lot of trouble deciding what I'd be willing to part with as they're all special to me

I spend a lot of down time here, looking at Today's Finds, General, Metal Detecting, and some brands forums. I have met many good souls here on Tnet. There is always research for future sites. and of course, online videos.

Read, identify whatzits on the What Is It? forum, tie artificial flies for fishing, (fish if it's warm enough), taper/decorate and fletch up wood arrows for target and hunting, repair gear, cut firewood, build & fly R/C airplanes, homebrew beer . . .

Who has time to detect?

I mainly read forums, watch videos and cry myself to sleep because I can't be out digging too. :tongue3:

Research and solve some of the Treasure Legends Jeff posts in the State Forums! 😁 Hope u have a speedy recovery! 🙌

Hopefully, your recover will progress quicker and get you back in the game soon. I'd recommend you do some research on potential detecting sites in your area. You could also start reading some real boring tech manuals so you fall asleep and make the time pass quicker! :occasion14:

Sorry to hear about your stroke. Hopefully your physical therapy will help you get back to detecting soon.

I like to coin roll hunt $25.00 boxes of pennies I get from my bank. I pick out all the wheat backs and look for key dates and mint errors. I had a exciting find this last year , I got 2 boxes from my bank , the first one I found 6 Indian head pennies the 2nd box had 1 Indian head cent, that's 7 times more Indian Head cents than I have found metal detecting in my 3 1/2 yrs metal detecting. My bank no longer has a coin counter , they want you to return the coins in rolls , they provide the roll papers . God Speed a recovery .

God Speed in your recovery!

Joe, ramp up the research. Take advantage of your down time for the good of all of us. Pass your research notes on to those of us that can use it. We all can. Save the best for when you recover. Recover soon! ╦╦Ç

Hope you recover soon, keep your chin up! Once you are able to go detecting again, would suggest you start out with a partner to help you ease back into detecting.

I hope that are able to get out again soon sir.

I just surf the net, when I can't get out to dig.

I'm always down for a few months in the winter when the ground is too hard to dig and the air too cold here in upstate NY, so I use it to research. Old maps, local history and lore, fly drones to scout, watch YouTube videos and tutorials etc. I also like to keep testing my machines. I have a V3i and an MX Sport. The V3i offers more information and ways to analyze a target. So I have tons of targets attached to painting sticks and tubs filled with soil and buried targets. I like to see how it identifies them and how things fall off with depth etc. I play around with settings to see how I can increase depth etc.

I build custom fishing rods and melt my own lead sinkers. Get well soon sir.

in mine down time i go through my coin collection and listen to music

According to the people in my life, when I'm not out detecting I can usually be found making people uncomfortable and/or angry. Try it! I find it very stress relieving. Quick Recovery Brother! :occasion14:

something about you I just like Terry ( gotta have a beer sometime)
