Ladder back chairs that may have originally had woven cane seats. They could have replaced them with tacked leather seats many years ago.

When I refinish chairs with damaged seats, I replace them with painted black fiberboard seats. Cheaper than leather seats and more durable. Leather seats tend to stretch with time, which gives you that sunken look.

Bottom line, nice old chairs, but probably only worth $150 to $200 for the set of four.
