What tool would this have been ? By guess is a screwdriver for a giant... :)

It's an auger tooth!!!
Did anyone look at my link? It is identical.
That is a close match, but not exact.
So let's ask Holly what kind of foundation her home sits on. I'm asuming it's not on concrete piles(pillars), but I could be wrong, especially if her home sits atop soft, sandy, or muddy soil where a normal 8"or 10"x 6' foundation wouldn't suffice. Her piece looks a bit toasty like it's been buried for a while. We shant rule out your guess just yet, especially if there are any bridge piles or towers nearby. Though I'm guessing her piece pre-dates foundation drilling.

I don't think it's an auger tooth.... Though anything is possible. But it's quite different from the pic that was posted.

I agree Holly, although comparing those examples doesn't prove practical. After all I'm pretty confident yours is not

"Product Description

Alloy steel Body, made by material ASTM4142 or 42CrMo, heat treatment with 48-52HRC hardness, has high toughness and wearable character. Tip is made from Low press Sintered, and Suitable Grade Selected according to the Target Projects".

:-* LOL!
