What Sluice to use for the Colorado Rocky Mountians

I have a new friend that has a brand new Wolf trap i can use.
He is not using it and has the Gold Hog Mat now.
I just need to know how wide and long i should make it.
I think 10" x 52" should do it, what do you guys think.
I was thinking about making a simple 1" pre screen setup about 2' x 4' to setup at about a 45 degree angle.

Use his wolf trap, thwn build yours to suit your needs. Making your own is easier if you base your plans off a proven design, then modify for how you want to use the equipment.

Went to coloma amd picked up my bgt prospector today. That is one beautiful piece of equipment! Cant wait to see what it can do for myself!

Congrats 419, bet u love it! You can really get a workout shoveling into a Prospector, I wore my workout monitor one time...I burned 1000 calories in 90 minutes digging to feed my prospector!

Here is a Sluice designed for Colorado.
This guy i did not even know about right in my own back yard.
About 20 min from me.
Looks like he is doing something different to catch the fine gold here in Colorado.
WOW 7' long and some have baffle setup.
Strang combo of Mat expanded metal and such.

This keene a52p sluice box has been a winner for me. It folds up into a small bag for transport and is a breeze to clean up. It has performed flawlessly for me. I was very skeptical at first because of the lack of carpet/miners moss for fine gold recovery but I will post pictures of my success with it at cache creek in Granite, CO.

Here is a pic of two of them running.

This was the take from that trip. It wasn't much because it was the first trip there and we didn't know much about the area.

Now here is the good stuff. I know where and how to find the gold at cache creek now as you see. This was from one day of running one not two boxes. So my personal opinion is that these boxes do the job right. The proof is in the gold.

TNminer They look cool too.

I am going to make one i decided.

I watched Gold Hog video's and also the one he has with legs, this is a must read for new guys like me.
Also read his free book two times.
Will use his Razorback and scrubber mat.

Now i need to know how wide and long i should make it.
9 -14 inches wide and 4 to 7 feet long.
Arkansas is i big river not a stream.
Seams industry standard is 10 inches x 4 foot around other parts of the country.

Well lets shoot for 10 x 5 with 1 foot bare to dump material on and one foot scrubber and 3 foot Razorback.
And then make a 1 foot removable extension for an 1/8 screen bottom to be used as a highbanker over Gold Cube once and a while.

Nice to see Keene catching up on the technology with that A52P!

Looks nice.
Said it does both slow water and faster.
Or you can get extra sluice extensions.
That is cool. I think there 100 bucks.
Anyone have one in colorado, do they work here is the question.

Why buy all that expensive ass matting . When u get the same results as a angus mackirk or similiar drop riffle sluice. All the material is being removed by heavys and trapping all black sands gems and gold.

Folks, he's right! And the drop riffle will be much quicker to clean out.

bigjoek I am like you and wanted to save some cash but after some heavy research and have learned a lot.

This is what i know:
Doc and the guys at Gold Hog: They have it figured out.
Thousands of hours or R&D along with thousands of customers around the world including big commercial mining operations.
I hooked up with a couple of old timers using Gold Hog and also learned that you can buy the vortex mating like what is in my gold cube to add to it also.
I decided to go with todays technology after all my research and so i end up with blue bowl, gold cube and gold hog mat, MXT Pro coming next.
Seams over the last two years this stuff has made it to the top of the list.

I am lucky to have had so much input on what to buy and how to use it.
Sluice's fab work is done and will pick up today.
Gold Hog Mat came in and is very impressive, i have UR / Scrubber and Razorback. WOW this stuff is COOL i see why they sell a lot of it.

Thanks for all the positive input.

Hope it works just great...looking forward to pictures of your new toys and the gold they bring you :)

Yea
I almost forgot.
A little gold would be nice to see for a change.
