What might this eagle have went on?

Found this at an old home site that may have some military ties. I think it's brass, but not positive. It appears that the hole is threaded.

Any thoughts on what this may be?

It appears to be too small to be on top of a flagpole. You wouldn’t be able to see it. JMO. Interesting find though.

I think it goes on my shelf in my curio cabinet, I’d love to find something with an eagle like that congrats. I’d go with the flag pole topper too doesn’t have to be a big flag

Due to it's size, I think that is very probable.

With the concave base, it looks like it was mounted to a spherical shaped object. Many finials have a similar base.

That was my thought...As I was reading through the comments I was thinking clock. When I got to the bottom, you said it...... I've seen that same symbol engraved on the back of pocket watches. Clock would be my guess too.

Yeah Creskol! There was an Early American Revival in the sixties in which all kinds of home décor that depicted revolutionary war themes.

My mother bought a set of table lamps with these on top.

My first thought was mantle clock.

a clock, a lamp, a vase, a trophy, a stove topper ... a very cool eagle finial, but you may never know definitively what it came off of.

I keep thinking an old coin type (piggy) bank. Usually cast iron.
