What kind of crystal?

Found this today in my creek...it's not unusual to find white/clear quartz crystals but the darker portion on this one makes me wonder what it is...when it's wet it's blackish and how do you clean it to make it shiny?

Probably a variation called "smoky" quartz.

I don't know kinda looks like hornblende to me. Hornblende - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
