What do you think these are from. They are all identical and very thin/lightweight. Are they as old as they look? They were only 3-4” deep. Metal has a copper/brassy look. This is probably an easy Id but I have not ran across these before.

Those are good resources vpnavy. Since these are so lightweight and I found 3 all in the same area I am thinking they might be off a piece of clothing.

Does anybody else have any thoughts on these? I am not finding anything quite like them online. Could they be 1920’s or newer? I am trying to search and document this site to help verify some local history.

You may be on an old homesite?

Yes the site had a house built around 1925. Records indicate that a tavern/stagecoach stop dating to early 1790’s was torn down on the site and the old lumber was used to build the house. Union cavalry was said to have stayed a week there towards the end of the war and I have found one relic that backs the story. Just trying map out the site to determine where the tavern likely stood.

Early 1900s style buckles, not sure of that exact use. (the clue is the pin that's fixed in the centre)

Cru beat me to it.
I too have dug a few of these on old homestead sites.

I've always attributed these to being 'clothing related', possibly used as suspender or overall buckles.

Thanks guys! So a pin that is fixed or locked into a groove on the buckle will typically point to turn of the 20th century or newer?
