What is ur best find EVER?

The dates range from 1836 (the year AR/MI became a state and the year of the Alamo) up to 1860. There are 2 half dimes 5 quarters and the rest are dimes. Except for the 1836 dime they are all seated coins and most of 'em are AU to a couple that might fit the uncirculated catagory. The edges are sharp and on most of 'em you can see the word liberty with little or no wear on 'em. I will try another picture but cant promise anything 'cause I aint real good at picture posting. Would it hurt the value if I dropped em in some jewelry cleaner? ..d2

d2, Please, Please, DON'T ever use Jewelry Cleaner on any coin, other than junk clads to clean up to spend. AU! BU! NO, NO, NEVER!

Reminds me of a Coin Dealer I knew who got a call from a woman who's husband had recently passed away. Anyhow, She said he left a complete set of IH Cents, & asked what they were worth. He told her that he needed to see them to know. She said she would stop by in a couple of days. When she came in to show him the coins, she said that she cleaned them up real good. It turns out she scoured them w/ steel wool. He told her they were worthless, except as fillers.

i agree with buscadero. the only time i clean coins are if they have no real value anyway, or if i cant id them any other way. other than those two reasons i just leave them be in thier tarnished beauty! its part of a coins character.

RED: Beautiful Piece!! You cleaned it up rather nicely too! It would be my 2d or 3d Best Piece & I've been doing it off & on since 1969. I would say you have quite a future ahead of you.

1790's spanish 2 reales piece and a beautiful 1810 large cent are two of my favorite coin finds. Also found a Morgan dollar and a Barber half in the same hole at the site of an old logging camp. Found a beautiful uncirculated 1888 seated dime about 6 years ago. U.S. issue sword belt plate is my best relic find.

sorry....only have the 1842 on this pc (at work) but here it is Neil.

I posted this coin on the Metal Detecting forum. This is my best single coin find. An 1807 Draped Bust Quarter found in January, 2006.

1916 D Mercury Dime. This is the best coin find I've had. Dug it up in a local park in a ball diamond outfield. Notice the nicks that I put in it while probing. Learned a hard lesson.
