Found this near a barn today. Never seen anything like this. Anyone have a clue?

Loo9ks like an adjustment lever could pull it out against spring pressure and hook it at different settings. don't think they are saw teeth.

I agree fireman. It looks to be home made. The teeth look like they have been cut with a saw. I am wondering if this was used to some how as a scale to weigh cotton or tobacco.

The blade portion reminds me very much like those on a fireplace trammel.

Creskol, I did not know what a fireplace trammel was. Looked it up and it does look very much like some of the pics I saw. A home made design with the big pull ring on top.

Some grain silos had shutes with a graduated device to control the flow of grain.

looks like a part from some farm equipment to lock or hold something from opening up or fall out. Or a sign for keys made?

That's one heck of a find Chowan, likely has some serious age could be 18thc.
