field bullet maker? Pour in lead, cool and dump. but it is pretty small for that. Great find though

I'm thinking some sort of safety latch off a gun?
Mods, I was posting from my phone, didn't see the what is it field.
Feel free to move.

What are those letters on the side? I think the notches will be the clue. Looks like it was part of a vice or ratchet clamp of some sort. (?)

Not a part from any gun that I know about. It won't fit on a ram rod, so not a cleaning jag, I have no idea what it is, but I know it's not gun related.

It's clearly from a Jesuit Priest, probably at least 4000 years old. Lost during an important spiritual journey to hide the holy grail. It gives the bearer special treasure hunting powers. A national treasure.

To be honest I don't know what it is lol! Good luck with ID.

I think the only way we are going to ID this puppy is if coinshooter can clean it up enough to read the letters. All I can make out is "for."

It looks hand made, and made of bronze. Perhaps made by the local blacksmith, I doubt it was mass produced making it harder to ID.

I'm guessing it is not complete either, probably a rod in the hole connecting it to something else.

The letters look like PLD_FOR.
The underlined letter could be a w or a u, or a t or an f.
Also looks like it might say Plower???

Maybe a weight of some kind, tied through the main hole by string. My first guess was some type of crude very old clock pendulum weight, but after doing research I am pretty sure it is not that.

The triangle part and the saw tooth ratchet, plus the fact that the end is rounded lead me to think it is a lever of some sort.
The bronze would suggest military to me. I still think it is something like a safety switch to a large gun of some sort.
Any WWII or WWI military experts out there?
