Found this today its brass or copper i found one just like this last saterday were a cotton mill stood from late 1830's until around 1920 when it was tore down i didn think nothing of because i thought it was some kinda little part that was used in the cotton mill but i found this one were the school house and tannery stood proly 4-500 yards away from were the mill stood any ideas? Maybe half of a clamp adapter for holding a piece of pipe in a small vice?

The fisrt one is a little smaller than the one in the picture and its all the same metal either brass or copper thinking more along the lines of brass because of the weight i have never seen anything close to it my grandpa looked at it for awhile and he said he didn have a clue

There no numbers or nothing those little marks look like thit was in a vise at one point in time
