some kind of cable clamp and the other one is a big cotter key

The second piece is about 6 inches long and it dont slit like a cotter key and the hole on the end is threaded

Thanks alot got one piece figured out. Any clues on the other? A good friend of mine (good with history) thinks it might have come off an old steam paddle boat

The piece with the square shaft is part of the drive (PTO) shaft that goes from the power take off on the tractor to a farm implement.
The second piece is a hammer plate off of a wagon.

If that is a PTO shaft, they had to line it up perfectly, because that setup won't articulate. No knuckles.

I dont think it is a pto shaft my dad has been around farming all his life he said he has never seen anything like it .
