What is this?

Hello, I seem to be posting a lot on this forum. Found this the other day near the same area where I found a CW Button and some three ringers. I have no clue what it is or what it could be used for. Any help would be appreciated. I read under "Today's Finds" that tnet member (pitdiggers) has something similar looking in his photo. Have a nice holiday.

I think it is called a knap sack hook. CW era.
