On the beach people throw their drink cans into the hot coals of a bonfire and the melt into unidentifiable lumps. Find them all the time, many times they ring up as a qurter or half dollar though instead of a nickel. Monty

Found 2 " clumps " like yours yesterday at the site of an old church that is no longer around. Mine look definitely melted, due to there is black specks stuck all over it, like ash or asphalt or something. that is why I thought mine could be pieces of lead from flashing on the roof.

I think's it's aluminum can too. I've found a lot of the same stuff around campfires

don't think so, I just weighed it on my gram scale and it weighs 31 grams, I checked an aluminum can and the entire can is 15.4 grams, I am telling you this is very dense, hard and heavy for it's size, it is not soft like lead
