The dust you got from grinding, what colour was that? I think you may want to open it up with a hammer so we can see inside of it.

Hey, Eu c, kept some dust/powder (color is tannish/beige)..a few bits/pieces popped off too, will put pic of them here shortly. Re: hammer, i've knocked some chunks off too...same thing (rust exterior).

Check army surplus, I saw one in called twin city surplus in sparks nv for like a 200 bucks it was in working conditon, but that was awhile ago. 2008. Theres always ebay.:find:

The "white" line on the green stuff just means it was harder then the knife.

I don't see any way to resolve this other then that you should take it to a local expert.
