I found this metal "O" and figured it was just a piece of junk plated jewelry or maybe even something industrial, but, curiousity got the better of me since it seemed to be of decent quality. It had a slight bit of tarnish on it, so, I figured it was silver plated. I dunked it in the silver cleaner and put it under a loupe. I didn't expect to see Tiffany and Co. .925 Spain faintly stamped into the edge of it! There's also something in script stamped there too, but, I can't make it out due to the wear. It looks to start out saying either Le or La and then something else I can't make out. What kind of jewelry is this? something like a tie slide for a cloth sash or ribbon? There is no evidence of attachment posts or holes anywhere except for the big one in the middle, of course. Any ideas?

I assume you have, but can't be sure because your post only shows a file-name for a picture that won't display (at least not for me):

Just in case, that's a pendant from their 'Sevillana' range designed by Elsa Peretti. The lettering you can't read should be her signature and the Sevillana name:
