I found this Last year.

90% of the Finds were from the 40's & 50's So I'm guessing the ring is from that time period or earlier. (it has heavy Wear)

the Design is what I'm most curious about.

it Looks like it could have been used for an INK STAMP or Wax Seal stamp, but it also looks Cheap (Adjustable.) is heavy Sterling, has Unusual Stamp/chop mark, I can't make out if something in it.

Ring was worn on a Size 9 Finger

If you look above the top right corner of the crest, I can almost make out an AR (definitely A) in the worn down text.

Tough to tell with wear, but looks like field of arrows or crosses with cross in upper left corner. If arrows, it would be more likely Army Military Academy.

It's Either Arrows ot Trees :)
MISSILES

I don't know, I just thought that it looked like a space capsule and that maybe that would help find the answer.

I don't think trees. I think more like arrows.

The Eagles on the sides are very reminiscent of WWII Era eagles.

Looks like something kind of cheap that a soldier leaving for Europe or Asia could buy for his sweetheart that would have his unit insignia on it.

Or maybe a military academy ring for the same purpose. To give to family or a sweetheart. Certainly not a Graduation/Class Ring

There we go. Still not sure what Unit the Crest is for, but the side eagles are definitely WWII. Here are some pics of a similar ring from the era. Look at the Side Eagles! EXACT!

Nowdays, they hand out coins when you are assigned to certaqin units, or graduate certain schools. I guess back in the day ('40's) they gave out rings.

Didnt the WWII eagle have a sunburst above it's head? If so this would be earlier ring posted by Jeff....

The ring I showed is on ebay. It is a WWII Tank Destroyer Company Ring, and as a WWII ring, therefore can NOT be missiles, as the only folks to have missiles in WWII were the Germans.

The medallion you showed before was from the US Missile Defence Command, but the symbols on that medallion are arrows.

Here is another website. The ring is called a "Sweetheart Ring" like I said previously, a cheap ring to get for your family or sweetheart before being shipped off.

I collect "sweetheart" but never seen anything like this. New area to explore? :-\

Cyn

The reason they were called sweetheart rings was because the men who got them, usually gave them to their sweethearts before they got sent off to fight.

Gee. Um. I have charms and pins and pillow cases. Thank you so much for teaching me the meaning of "sweetheart." To think I thought was collecting valentines circa 1916--1945!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You ARE the man!

HOORAY MICHELLE!!!!!!! So it's a sweetheart ring for a Minute Man Missle Battery??????

Doc

Not for missile battery. No missiles in WWII (except for Germany). Like I said before, "Arrows" the unit must be now defunct. I've seen the crest before, but can't find it now. The crest as I remember it was a red background with white arrows.

Just a thought Jeff- they make products similar to Nic-a-date except they're for silver. I'm sure I've seen some posted on here before. If you don't mind what it looks like, you might try raisng the lettering thats worn off on top with one of these products..... might give you more clues. You could always rub it off after.

Don't think so. The arrowhead/arrow could mean many things. One one crest, it means pathfinder, on another, it is an arrow with a line through it (meaning the unit shot like an arrow through every line in their way), sometimes an arrow denotes unit size and direction moved, arrows sometimes mean missiles.

In the case of this crest, I believe the arrows mean forward movement. The cross in the corner (if blue) may stand for Infantry. The original may have had a blue background (I'm not sure). I don't believe the unit exists anymore.
