I found this Last year.

90% of the Finds were from the 40's & 50's So I'm guessing the ring is from that time period or earlier. (it has heavy Wear)

the Design is what I'm most curious about.

it Looks like it could have been used for an INK STAMP or Wax Seal stamp, but it also looks Cheap (Adjustable.) is heavy Sterling, has Unusual Stamp/chop mark, I can't make out if something in it.

Ring was worn on a Size 9 Finger

it is a Triangular Shape chop mark but not Quite a Triangle.

The pic is Acccurate on its shape.

no wear around the chop mark.

Although the adjustable split band is not typical, otherwise it looks fairly similar to the late 1930's to 1950's, privately purchased souvenir rings of the type often sold in PX's, and in shops near military bases. I don't recognize the design on top, but it might be some sort of DI (unit crest). What's the lettering around the border?

Interesting.

Also thought a military crest, but not real sure,
that could be throwing us off.

Adjustable size? Child's ring? But....

Very, very heavy wear on that ring. Someone
really put it to use. Would a child wear a ring
for that long, or would it have been an adult.
Was it common for adult males to wear an
adjustable rings in the 40's- 50's?

My thoughts on an adjustable ring are for a
child or female fashion ring, not adult male.

Would the current size fit a large (adult) finger;
or if it was expanded? 9 is not a large size.

Like I said, interesting.

all have a good un.........

Sherm makes a good point. As I also mentioned, the adjustable band is not typical of military rings. If the size is too small for a serviceman, one remaining possibility for the military angle would be a "sweetheart" jewelry item, i.e., a ring bought by a soldier as a gift for a relative or friend.

BTW, since my earlier post, I've had a chance to go through a couple of books on toy & premium rings, and it doesn't seem to match up with anything in those. Also, sterling silver is not all that common in toy & premium rings, which were generally made on a "the cheaper, the better" basis. So, I don't think that's what it is either.

Jeff;
Are my old bi-focals decieving me because on the chop mark there appears to be a five point star in the center of it. I see it on the pic and the first two clicks of the zoom. I still don't know anything about the ring tho'.

When you are talking "chop marks" is that the same as silver marks?

If not the same, what's the difference?

Thank you,

Tony

Angelo; I have no idea what a chop mark is, but I was referring to the mark on Jeffs' # 2 picture Chop_mark. Seems like a good name tho' for that mark that looks kinda like a half a pulltap in shape. Anybody see the Star?

This is the Approximate Shape of the Mark.

There appears to be Something in it, But I can't ID it.

The Eagles on the sides are definitely Army or Army Air Force. The Crest is a Unit Crest.

Maybe even a Military Academy. Army Based I would think.

If you look above the top right corner of the crest, I can almost make out an AR (definitely A) in the worn down text.

Tough to tell with wear, but looks like field of arrows or crosses with cross in upper left corner. If arrows, it would be more likely Army Military Academy.
