What is this? Part off a Lantern?

I found this about 2 weeks ago at an old farm. It was about 7 inches down and next to a tree. At first I thought it was off a lantern, the hole was were the wick would come out? But then I did some research, and I didn't see anything that looked like this on a lantern. So I thought one of you might know.
