A _ A. Is it a B or a G? I can't tell. I thought it was a G, now it looks like a B.

It is defiantly a G.
Compare the C in Club with the G and you can see the cross bares for the G.

So it's A G A

I would say its A G A
An amateur etching job at best - not a professional etch

I agree it's a amateur job. It's an old piece too judging by the amount of wear on the bottom. I found the correct old English font that matches too, almost exact. So it is a G. Now I wonder what the A.G.A. Club is/was?

Thanks for the replies. I did a little research on my own and came up with nothing definitive. I like the German club theory except that club was established in 1976 and it's in Australia. I could very well be wrong but I believe this ashtray is much older than that. I'm basing that on my years of collecting glass/crystal of various types.

I can find many references however to a couple AGA clubs referring to golfing clubs around the country in the early half of the 20th century which is when I believe this dates to. There is the Arizona Golf Asssoc. (1923) and The Alabama Golf Assoc. (1915).
