Help, what is this?​

Hi, newbie here. Found this yesterday, metal detector says silver. Looks like it has chop marks. But what is it??

Just because it says it's something it doesn't mean it is.
Take a knife, or an awl and see how soft the metal is actually.

Test 2 Cut a small piece off and heat it up with a small torch
If it melts it's lead
Looks like lead
It's probably lead

Get a container and toss it in. Over a period of time you'll dig plenty of lead, then you can recycle it for $$.
Same goes for the other metals that are just regular trash. (eg. copper, brass, stainless, and lead)
