I'm wondering what unlikely stuff is still out there in the wild. I haven't found anything very impressive as I don't do high volume. The best thing I have found was a half dollar that was struck partially out of the collar, making it half-broadstruck. It has a value of about $20. Still quite nice and interesting.

I'm interested in what you have found.

Back in 2004, I bought a roll of 1955-P "Uncirculated - Mint State Red" Lincoln Cents for $15 in a plastic tube from a local Dealer. After having it for two weeks, I finally got around to searching the roll for high grade, Variety and Error specimens within the roll. Out of 50 coins, 40 of them were Doubled Die #3's and #4's, 3 were Doubled Die #2's, 4 were PMDD's (Poor Man's Double Dies) and 3 were normal Mint State Red's. I sold and traded the 3 Doubled Die #2's which were all MS-64 Reds for a total of $700 in cash and trade. I then replaced the 3 Cents from the roll with 3 1955-P PMDD's in MS-62 Red and sold the roll to an Amateur Coin Collector for $25. I could have sent the 40 Doubled Die #3's and #4's out for grading and certification but this would have been too costly, they would not have fetched a lot on the Coin Market and I felt they would do more good in the Amateur Coin Collector's possession.

Here's a few random pics of cool stuff I have found, not really any more valuable or super old, but cool and Silver. HH, Maverick.

My finds this weekends aren't bad.. One 64 half, two 40%ers, a war nickel and the most interesting thing that trumps all others was a small coin sized boy in a MWR. Lol

I've only been CRH for a short while, so for sheer "interestingness" I'm going to go with this 1973 Lincoln/Kennedy cent I found last night. I had no idea these existed and had to do a little research this morning. Several of you probably have these or are aware of them, but for those that aren't, they were stamped with the image of Kennedy facing Lincoln and then placed uncirculated in a card listing the many similarities between the two presidents assassinations. I guess over time they either must not have sold or someone really wanted to spend that penny and they make their way into circulation.

I don't know the value, but I believe for me it would probably be a 1992-D close AM cent found a few years back.

I found a 1992 quarter that I can't figure out. It came from a bunch of machine rejects that a bank sold to me. It's possibly a wrong planchet error since the metal is not correct, weight and size are off, reeding is "zippered" on one side. Might be worth something or counterfeit. Either way, it's the most interesting thing that I can recall. I also got a nice '39D nickel - AU or better. My wife wanted to find an Indian head cent so I bought her a box. She found one in the first roll that she opened. I think it was a 1904 and I'm thinking now that it was even on the end. The funny part is that she quit hunting since she'd accomplished her objective and I had to finish the box.

Found a 20 swiss franc gold coin a couple years ago in the reject tray at a penny arcade... My single most valuable coin find, about 300 at the time when gold was higher

In term of value, it may be my 1869 2 cent piece - approx. $45.
Most interesting - that's easy, my 312 A.D. Roman follis coin.

All recent finds this summer.

The most interesting and valuable is obvious for me.

1929 gold quarter eagle found in a Loomis box of dimes. You can read the whole story here - http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/coin-roll-hunting/353306-silver-gold-silver-gold.html

Beyond that, I don't know. My 1976-S silver half is pretty cool. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/coin-roll-hunting/381931-my-first-special-half-dollar.html

The Irish penny ender in a box of halves was neat, and I gave it to a friend of Irish descent. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/coin-roll-hunting/368014-you-had-good-enders-here-s-mine.html

And the Nazi 10 Reichspfennig coin found in a Loomis box of nickels is certainly a vivid memory in my early months of hunting - http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/coin-roll-hunting/332932-inglorious-reichspfennig.html
