I believe it was Sony Corp. who, a couple of years ago, came out with a video that stated if you entered a 4-year tech school, by the time you were a Junior, what you had learned as a Freshman was obsolete. Scary.

beth i believe your blu ray prob is software related, i installed/upgraded the
codecs on a friends puter, and it works fine now,i used the win os codec from
here, you may need something diff if not running win os

http://www.filehippo.com/search?q=codecs

and sometimes the flowcharts are called troubleshooting flowcharts

When I was in school (years before BCH) we used similar templates to learn the words that coincided with the shape of the various designs--then we colored in the die cut areas with our crayons. Ben Shneiderman was born in about the same year.

;D We also learned in kindergarten that you cant put a Parallelogram peg into a Trapezoid hole but the toy wasnt called a flowchart.

Did you learn the words that coincided with the shapes? There are 2 shapes that I do not know. The diamond shape coincides with the shape called Rhombus. Besides the Trapezoid, I dont know the other shapes in the Skills Review question but Im sure someone will look them up.. :read2:

Below is NOT a flowchart.

A is an "Elongated Hexagon." Fill it in with your crayons children lol. :D

D is the only shape unidentified. Flowchart? ::) Those 4 shapes on the test are just as much a flowchart as the image below.

Flowcharts are not new, nor are they just computer related.

Schematics are a type of flowchart.

Here are some examples of flowcharts. They are used every day by lots of folks. For mechanics, troubleshooting of any type, to learn how a system of any kind works, etc.

Here are some samples:
Beth

The example was in error calling the picture a flow chart.
The picture shows a multiple choice question about flow chart symbols.
Or am I missing something?

Thank you, thank you Ism. Finally someone with a grasp of the English language. (winking)  There is no flowchart, only 4 shapes, the question doesnt make sense.

Re: A Crude flow chart, hope you get the idea.

motor check C/B

A flow chart gives you a condition ( ie, motor doesn't run.) and gives you items to check(ie. is it plugged in) if it is, check and see if you actually have power, if you don't it my send you to the circuit breaker and so on.........Or, the condition(motor doesn't run) gives you items to check (ie. It's not plugged in) next step would be plug it in, if it runs your done, if it still doesnt run, check things on down the line.
Thanks. I always called it a Troubleshooting Chart.

It seems I was the only one that didnt know what a flowchart was but the question itself doesnt make any sense and Ism thinks so too.. ;D Maybe Im not as dumb I look. :tongue3:

Bigcy,

I think you knew what it was, it was, obviously just called by another name. Flowcharts come in many, many ways. Troubleshooting chart, SOP charts, blah blah.

You know, its kind of like traffic signs and signals - you see them - you know what they are and what they mean, but people have different names for them, and cannot always recall them called a certain name.

Its like the difference between and "amber" light or a "yellow" light.

Yes I know what a troubleshooting chart is but truthfully I had no idea that the shapes had any meaning. I could not understand the question because 4 random shapes does not equal a troubleshooting chart no matter what it is called and I never heard of a flowchart..

Thanks everyone for your help. The green check is posted.

BigCy,

I have a PhD in neuroscience and I have never heard of this if that makes you feel any better, good buddy. Wait, didn't they outlaw tests like this as a pre-employment screening for civil rights violations or something like that?

Really? I guess I do feel better. ;D Actually I dont think the tests have any bearing on my possible future employment but I dont really know. :dontknow: Its a mandatory test to help see what kind of jobs I am best suited for... I think.
