It's about 3 1/2" in diameter. Has a stand on the bottom with a loop, like for hanging? I think it was made of copper but might be wrong. The surface is not smooth but rather bumpy and relief on some places. There are 5 drilled holes at the top.
Thanks in advance

Incense Stick Holder. Like this one. Found on an online decor shop.

No fooling man, you are good. Who would have thought something like that? You have my admiration.

I think the loop on the bottom was used for hanging the globe for the finishing process, i.e. painting, plating, etc.

Here it is. Onekingslane

Also, twas BuckleBoy that got me thinking ".

Thank you. So, we were right about the continents. I guess I have to clean it a bit so they can show up better.
I just did not get the idea with the sale of this incense holder on the onekingslane website. Did you see it when it was active? Like, was it only one piece or more, price? As far as I understood someone named Laurie Frank " traveled widely and collected many treasures along the way, looking at her life as one big cabinet of wonders to fill" . So, she offers only individual pieces that she found here and there? Would be nice if they explained in the description more about the holder, like circa, country of origin etc...

So, without more detailed info, you know what I am thinking - maybe she had no clue what the object was and named it "incense holder" just like some of you already suggested. What do you guys think? I am still not sure what to think about the loop on the bottom. Why would some one put it there if the sphere is supposed to stay on the stand with the hole up?

I think someone already suggested that the loop was for the casting of the globe.
Sounds logical to me.
