I decided to up the # of boxes I go through a week from 10 to 20. Until now, I have several dump banks and had it down to where I would only dump 1k at a bank each week. With upping coins, I will most likely have to start dropping more but am concerned with drawing too much attention from tellers having to change bags - this happens about every time I drop 1k in halves. I know many here go through more than this and wanted some input as to stopping at same bank more than once a week is a big deal. May have to open up some other minor accounts in order to widen my drop spots.

There really isn't an answer here. I don't set a limit as every bank is different.

I had a bank cut me off after dumping around $500 a week there for a few months, even though I "cleared" it with the manager before opening the account. I have another bank that has told me I can bring in an unlimited amount of coin and it will be no problem whatsoever. So far it hasn't.

Depends on the bank and who is working there. I dumped 5 boxes at once long ago. That was the limit for me but the one lady there was cool with it.

My answer....depends on how much I can fit in my car and still keep the wheels turning...

I think my maximum for volume was a little over $1250 in pennies (with about $100 in nickels mixed in)... (100,000 pennies) Filled up the bin on the self serve coin machine 2 times and almost a third. Took many trips to the car and about an hour to run it all.

From my records the largest amount for dollar value was just shy of $3100 with many dumps over the $2000 mark.

I try to dump no more than a $1000 at a time. I some times dump twice a week, but I dump dimes instesd of halfs on the second drop. I have spent alot more time looking for more dump banks, and have about 20 now. It is much better to spread out dumps than to repeat dump spots.

I would have to say it's up to who you are dealing with. I mean, money is money but you know how that goes. Some tellers are cool and other's not. You don't want to make them work too much :laughing7: I've been banking with Chase for many years but I can't stand one or 2 of the tellers. I don't know why. She just thinks she's God but I don't bowel to anyone >:( I could see an issue (maybe) if you you didn't bank there

If you are going to do that many boxes I would suggest that you get as many dump banks as possible.
If you dump more than once a week at the same branch, or cause the tellers to change the bags too many times, you will get cut off,and lose the dump bank.

Would the same limits apply to loose and rolled coins, or would it be acceptable to dump more often/more coin if it is rolled?

opinions, please

I never roll them myself..but if i buy a box of dimes and dont find squat..the bank tellers are always happy when i bring them in..

I only dump about 500-700 at a time..i carry it all in by hand..so that pretty much maxes me out with out looking crazy hobbling into the bank with an Army Ammo Box

Look here's what I do. I do about 10-12 a week, and drop 3k off per bank visit. If they're rolled it's so much faster. Plus drop them off in the boxes they come in, you're in and out in a few minutes. Counts are dead on as there is no machine to mess up. Also I don't have to write my account number on the rolls now that I have built a report with the tellers. Cycle thru a couple banks per week and you're golden. Rinse. Cycle. Repeat.

I keep it under $500.00 a week at the same bank. They don't like taking out the bags too often.

Normally, no more than 800 at a time. When I get behind on halves (up to 6 boxes) I may dump 900 at a time, but that is a rarity. I do not visit the same branch more than once per week, and I roll some of my dumps and use coin counters to increase my number of banks. I do some brinks and some CWI boxes; I have trouble getting wrappers so I rewrap my dumps. I always return my rewrapped dumps to opposite carriers so no one gets my dumps and when rerolling I never turn in more than $500 of the same type of 'carrier wrapper' because I've had CWI rewraps in my Brinks.

Trust me, I've thought through it!

2k at a time is all I can carry 2 1k bags. 1 trip in and out.

I dumped $2,250 within the last week :laughing9:. I didn't think I needed to set "limits" on dumping.

season to taste. Any coin besides halves I say the more the merrier... tellers dont really care and if they care that they have to change bags then I can think of some people that would love to have their job in this economy.

Halves are a little different. Everyone thinks you are running a scam and most tellers are savvy to the fact that you only get halves in such scale from other banks. I suspect that is where you will have to exercise discretion.

Me I try to always keep each dump under a grand. I hit any specific branch only once per week but some chains, I might visit multiple branches in a day if I need to dump 3,4,5K.

I cant answer about loose vs rolled as I always dump my halves and dimes in rolls and my pennies loose. I dump some nicks loose and some rolled, depends on the day and my free time.

i mostly try to do only 1k per bank, but if im feeling lazy i say "wat the hell" and hoist the containers onto the bank, and take a MASSIVE DUMP :laughing9:
