This thing is about 2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. Tube shaped and the top has "G" all the way around. I think its copper judging from the greenish tarnish.
It has little grooves along the length. It seems the top used to separate from the rest of the item. What is it? How old? Thank you for any ideas.

Gads, how many of you ladies remember the lipstick samples that were about 1/4 inch wide and maybe an inch high. They would give them away from behind the counter when you went to the cosmetics displays in the department stores. There was probably 4-5 applications worth in the tube. Lands sake!! I'm old...
