Looks like a Lipstick or Match Container

I may be way off base here but I will throw it out for your consideration. Back in the 1800s there was a devise like that which was used to carry the tip of an ink pen that would have been dipped into an ink well.

If it has a C and a G alternating around it then it a cover girl lipstick or concealer tube.

There is no "C". Just 6 "Gs" in a row.
Duggap that is a possibility. I am tempted to try and pry it open to see whats inside.
Would hate to damage it.

Try putting a little E.z. Off where the seperation
is.Let it set for a little while. That might help
loosen it. Jim.

Cool find. I love that finding this kind of stuff.

As someone mentioned here, spray a little WD40 or PB Blaster on it and let it sit for awhile (4-5 hours) for the lubricant to penetrate.

I'm thinking maybe it's a snuff container?

Re: What Is It? Case Solved

I got it open and it is indeed lipstick. Now if someone can help me figure out how old it is. My wife thinks its from maybe the 50s. Says she hasn't seen anything like it in a long long time. It was found very near where a school used to be. Any help is appreciated!

When I was younger (1960's) my mom had a few of these. They were lipstick samples. The look and dimensions are correct, but I can't remember the reason for all the G's. A soak in WD- 40 might help. And the reason for the copper is that they were plated to make them shiny (I don't remember the color). This was before everything was made of plastic. - JHinPA
