I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard Mtrucking! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country). You might also consider adding your state (or country) to your displayed profile (SETTINGS -> EDIT PROFILE) so if you ask a question, etc. - people may have more success helping you (if necessary)...

Looks like a chunk of raw silicon. Me and my brother used to find it on the train tracks near our house. It can come in different shades, or with crystals of other minerals on it. Where did it come from if you don't mind me asking?

Shiny coal... bust it and you will get black dust and pieces.. at the mines we sorted itcl.jpg as high sulfur and low sulfur..

Unfortunately, the poster did not bother to tell us whether he found it with a metal-detector, or he bought it, etc. Being found with a detector indicates a metallic object. If it is metallic, it looks to me like either Argentiferous Galena, or crushed Galena (lead ore). Being crushed breaks up Galena's usual cubic crystalline form. Go here:
