or personal craft project from a century ago.

Ya know what Jeff ? We really should have an "unsolved" forum, like the "cold case files " ? That cool pin from last week and the button with the pigeons on it today really bug me

also appears to have a slight Seam type appearance.

could this mean it was poured in a mold ?

Hard to say as to a mold line, though I have seen some pretty crude molds. I'm getting the impression of a squashed roundball with holes drilled in it. One thing though, in your pic it looks like there's a green layer in the corrosion, reminds me of stuff I pull out of the ground up at 624 .

in spots around the center area where the White is Chipped,
there appears to be a hint of green tarnishing

at this point no idea if the spot I dug it could have ever been on fire,
or if this experienced fire, or a hammer

I was working on a cat loader yesterday and I noticed on the injector pump a series of screws with safety wire tying them together, where the wire came together there was a lead gizmo crimped on, similar to yours.

Counter weight for grandfather clocks goes inside the brass tubes with the chain, the removed areas of lead to tune the weight .

I was thinking some kind of counterweight. The fact that the holes in the sides don't go through suggests that they are not mechanical holes for assembly, but simply material removal for weight.
