I believe that could be a lead trade bead.

I really Hope your Right ! the Valley we were in, Has some of the Oldest Indian Settlements
around. Actually early Stone age also.
and in the early 1700's there were Traders who Traveled & actually Lived
nearby along the Susquehnna River

I like the lead trade bead idea, but it seems so small.....and the extra holes.....interesting.

I can't wait to get back there, After digging it, I pretty much kept meandering about.
rather then clean any particular spot. because the place holds allot of trash.

Either that or some type of loom weight, or fishing weight

Net weight popped in my mind, But would have taken allot
other type fishing weight maybe also.

Definitely old, it turned white like Civil War era Lead

We bought Manhattan for 24 bucks worth of beads, who's to say we didn't slip the Indians some lead slugs from time to time, I think everything was judged by weight in those days, wasn't it ?

Does the center hole go all the way through ? Like maybe the hub of a toy wheel with iron spokes that rusted away ?

My nephew told me he's dug a few of them at his place over Time.
he lives in the same valley. half mile tops away . so they are not Unique.

Unfortunately, he's been throwing them away :(

I agree with Bruce, The original Colonials had Lead for their Guns and Lead is easily worked.
So who's to say the Traders didn't trade them with the Indians for Furs .
The only problem I see is
the Center Hub looks like it was made to Spin/turn on an axle .
it is not as primitive looking as the rest of it.
