Yeah it comes up like a quarter on my Coinmaster pro.

Could be some type of padlock. Those can read high on a detector. From photos givin and that circular thing in the middle, that would be my best guess

It's hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like the rounded, tip end of a barrel hoop. I've dug some thick ones similar to yours.

That particular form of corrosion/oxidation, resembling scattered snowflakes on dirt, indicates the metal is zinc (or a zinc-&-lead alloy), which is lighter than lead and more brittle. (I notice that one end of your unidentified object looks like it broke off from a larger object.)

:notworthy: i have yet again been amazed by you cannonball..recognizing zinc by the shape of the oxidation...
